Don’t ask me what’s happening in Puerto. I’ve been too busy having massages (three in two weeks) and going out to the Manialtepec Lagoon (three boat trips plus a drive to Puerto Suelo). Then there was the temazcal in the mountains. Life is good when you work on a magazine and get to choose your assignments.

The best part of my work this issue was getting to know the massage therapists. They come from very different backgrounds: a Zapotec village, Mexico City, Vancouver by way of Poland etc., but they all share the same sense of vocation or calling. They are gifted individuals who are grateful for their ability to heal with their hands. We are so fortunate to have them in our midst.

Another group of very diverse people I want to acknowledge are the advertisers: past, present and future. Without their financial and moral support, this magazine would not exist. I am very grateful to you all.

Winter people wonder what the rest of us do when they are not here. Truth is, we move very slowly and complain about the heat. But it’s our home and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

¡Viva Puerto! is only published during the high season; the next issue will be in November.
