Editorial
This edition of the magazine is devoted to the two articles of faith that exist in Puerto: the Virgin of Juquila and the completion, sooner than later, of the highway that will let us drive to Oaxaca in only two hours. You don’t have to be a Roman Catholic to respect the large number of tourists who come here via Juquila (the hotel owners call them the back bone of Puerto tourism), and we all believe that for better or worse the highway is a reality. The question is whether we should believe ICA and the government when they say that it will open in the first six months of 2015.
What is certain is that now ¡Viva Puerto! is Puerto Escondido’s only bilingual magazine. It is a great responsibility since we must report not only on issues of interest to people who live here but also to tourists. This is a job that I share with the editorial assistants and with friends of the magazine like Gina Machorro, who is a great source of information, and also Julie Leggatt who helps with the editing. Finally, I want to thank the past, present and future advertisers; they are the true believers in this publication.
